Terms of Use (End-User License Agreement)
Effective date: October 2, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Ramiro Piedrabuena, trading as Gavna ("we", "us"), the publisher of Gavna Music Composer ("the app"). By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not install or use the app.
1. Free trial
You can download Gavna Music Composer for free and use it with all its features for 15 days. When the trial ends, the app needs a license key to keep opening. Your projects are yours and stay on your computer whether you buy or not.
2. License
When you buy Gavna Music Composer you receive a license key. It is a single payment: there is no subscription and the license does not expire. With it we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app. The app is licensed, not sold.
Your key can be active on 1 computer at a time. To use it on another computer, deactivate it first on your current computer (Help → Gavna Music Composer License… → Deactivate on this computer). Activating, checking and deactivating a key need an internet connection; the rest of the app works offline.
A license key we give away (for example, with a promotional code) gives you the same rights as a purchased one.
3. What you may not do
Except where the law expressly allows it, you may not: copy the app other than as needed to install and use it; sell, rent, lend, sublicense or redistribute it; share your license key publicly or with people outside your household; remove its copyright notices; or decompile, disassemble or reverse-engineer it, or bypass the trial, the license check or any other technical limitation in it.
4. Your music
Everything you create with the app — projects, chord progressions, melodies and exported MIDI files — belongs to you. We claim no rights over it. You are responsible for making sure you have the rights to any material you import into the app (for example, a MIDI file made by someone else).
Chord suggestions, arrangement techniques and other results are generated from common music-theory rules. We do not guarantee that a result is original or free from third-party rights: similar chord progressions are common in music, and whether and how you use them is your decision and your responsibility.
5. Third-party components
The app includes third-party software and content, each under its own license: the Salamander Grand Piano samples by Alexander Holm (Creative Commons Attribution 3.0), Tone.js (MIT License), JSZip (MIT License) and Electron / Chromium (MIT and related open-source licenses). Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licenses.
6. Updates
We may release updates that add, change or remove features. Updates are delivered through the store you downloaded the app from and are covered by these terms. Every update of version 1 is free for license holders; a future major version (for example, version 2) may be sold separately.
7. Purchases and refunds
Gavna Music Composer is sold through Creem, our reseller and merchant of record, which processes the payment under its own terms. The price is US$49; depending on your country, sales taxes may be added at checkout. Refunds follow our Refund Policy.
8. No warranty
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not guarantee that the app will be free of errors or interruptions, that it will work with every computer, operating system, audio device or music program, or that it will meet your expectations.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROJECTS, RECORDINGS, PROFITS OR BUSINESS, OR FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER, DEVICES OR OTHER SOFTWARE, ARISING FROM THE USE OF OR THE INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF WE WERE ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE. You are responsible for keeping backup copies of your projects and files.
In any case, our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you actually paid for it (zero if you did not pay for it).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties or liabilities to be excluded or limited. In that case, the exclusions and limits above apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing in these terms affects the rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived by contract, including those under Uruguayan Law No. 17.250 on Consumer Protection.
10. Termination
This license ends automatically if you break these terms, and your license key is disabled if its purchase is refunded or charged back. When the license ends you must stop using the app and uninstall it. Sections 4, 8, 9 and 11 continue to apply after it ends.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay. Any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts of Montevideo, Uruguay, except where consumer-protection law gives you the right to go to the courts of your place of residence.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version that applies is the one published when you install or update the app; material changes will be announced in the release notes of the update that brings them.
